Trail Blazers Decade Nights
As a part of the 50th anniversary season, there were five “Decade Nights” throughout the year, with one dedicated to each decade of Blazers basketball. For these nights, all of the social media and arena graphics were redesigned to represent the graphic styles of each era. I enjoyed working on these because it was a nice change of pace being able to put aside the normal brand guidelines and get wild with them.
Project includes: branding, illustration, layout, typesetting, production
70’s Night
First up is 70’s Night, celebrating the inaugural decade of Blazers basketball. Inspired largely by the television broadcasts in the 70s, bold, outlined Helvetica and black & white imagery combine to give this night a retro feel.

80’s Night
Inspired by the bright colors and rad gradients of the 1980s, I created a whole suite of graphics to help celebrate 80’s Night on December 20, 2019.
With a rare bit of extra time on my hands one week, I decided to make a special graphic for 80’s Night. It became the Item of the Game, and also inspired wallpapers that were posted on the social media channels to engage fans with the themed night.

90’s Night
Could something even be 90’s-themed without teal? By combining the electric colorways often found in 1990’s design with groovy shapes and Cooper Black, I created a fun and cohesive look for one of the franchise’s proudest eras.

00’s Night
Inspired by cut paper collages and comically baggy shorts, the 00’s Decade Night took place on February 23, 2020.

10’s Night
Lastly, the Decade Nights were rounded out in early March against the Suns. These graphics represent the brand guidelines of the early 10’s to help differentiate from the present.
